Booking FAQs
When are off-peak train times?
Off-peak times tend to be between 09:30 - 16:00, and after 19:00 (Monday to Friday). The exact times vary depending on your chosen route, and it’s always best to double-check your ticket before travelling.
What is a SplitSave ticket?
SplitSave is a new initiative from Trainline, that aims to save you money on your journey. Essentially, it splits your journey into multiple tickets which often works out cheaper. This service doesn’t add any extra changes to your route.
How to add Trainline tickets to Apple Wallet?
Thankfully, it’s fairly simple to add your e-ticket to your Apple Wallet. All you have to do is select the ‘mobile ticket’ option when purchasing tickets and you will then be sent an email confirmation. This email will contain buttons for you to click, which will download your tickets directly to your Wallet.
Can I find discounts on railcards as well as normal train tickets?
Yes, you can! Trainline often run sales on their railcards, allowing you to save even further. Keep your eyes peeled right here, as we'll feature all offers and discounts as soon as they become available.
Cancellation & Refund FAQs
Can I change or cancel my booking?
This depends on the type of ticket you've bought, as some tickets are non-refundable. If you've bought an off-peak, super off-peak or saver ticket, these can be refunded online, although you will have to pay a refund fee of between £1 and £9 depending on the value of your ticket. Advance single tickets can't be refunded but they can be exchanged for a new ticket at a different time of day, for a £10 fee. Eurostar tickets are non-refundable, but you may be able to change them to a different time or day for a fee of £30 - £40.
Can I get a Trainline refund?
If a train is cancelled you can normally get a full refund from the Train Operating Company (TOC). To find out if you're eligible, please visit the Trainline website.
How long do Trainline refunds take?
Refunds usually take 3-5 days to process.
What happens if I miss my connection due to a delay?
If you miss the next train on your journey due to a delay, you’ll be able to travel on the next one provided by the same operator. There may also be alternative routes and we’d always advise talking to a member of staff at the station to run through your options.

Travel regularly on the same train? You can save up to a third on your journeys by getting yourself a Trainline Season ticket. You’ll get unlimited travel on your selected route and can choose from weekly, monthly or annual subscriptions.
Start using Trainline’s SplitSave feature and cut the cost of your journey! This new initiative is designed to split your journeys into multiple tickets without adding any additional changes to your route. This will save you money, although you must travel on trains that stop everywhere you’ve bought tickets.
It’s always worth trying to book as early as possible, as this will undoubtedly save you money on your ticket. Tickets can be released up to 12 weeks before the departure day, and this is typically when you’ll find prices at their lowest.

What if my discount code doesn't work?

How we make money
Using our discount codes is totally free, although we understand that this may seem too good to be true.
